Job summary

University of North Florida seeks an Academic Advisor to support and guide students across undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate programs within the Coggin College of Business Advising unit. The role emphasizes adherence to education policies and effective referrals to support services.

You will advise across modalities, contribute to program development, and help monitor persistence and graduation rates, while coordinating with various campus offices to ensure student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group academic advising across all modalities including in person and via phone and virtual platforms.
• Assist in limited access admission program, where applicable.
• Assist in probation and suspension decisions and other scheduled administrative functions associated with the academic calendar as needed.
• Assist in program reviews and provide college data as needed.
• Prepare productivity reports.
• Assist in the development of programs that increase persistence rates of undergraduate students while tracking and enhancing graduation rates.
• Recommend and provide input on academic policies and procedures that impact student persistence and graduation rates.
• Assist with NCAA compliance regulations pertaining to advising.
• Serve as a resource and student liaison to academic department chairpersons, the Dean’s office and other student support service departments on campus (e.g., Enrollment Services, Dean of Students, Graduate School, Career Services, other UNF advising offices).
• Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials describing offerings across undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Represent the College at various recruitment events throughout the year.
• Develops procedures for performing a variety of complex duties within established guidelines; has considerable freedom while the work is in process and receives instructions on new assignments.
• Assist director with writing, training, and administering policy and procedures for academic advising.
• Maintains the confidentiality of student records.
• Initiates contact with students, faculty, and staff of the university on an “as needed” basis. Contact with parents, potential students, and partners in the community as appropriate.
