Job summary

Amazon Leo Hardware Development seeks a HW Dev Engineer II - Payload to design circuitry for satellite systems and to create proof-of-concept hardware. You will collaborate with radiation, power, mechanical, thermal, RF, and software teams throughout the design lifecycle.

The role includes bring-up and qualification testing, leading PCB layout reviews, and designing automated test systems. This is a path from concept to production with full lifecycle exposure.

Qualifications

• Experience prototyping and implementation.
• 4+ years in electrical engineering or equivalent.

• 1+ years high-speed digital design, SERDES.
• 2+ years schematic capture.
• 2+ years lab equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, multimeters).

Amazon LEO is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As a Hardware Engineer, you will be a part of the team of experts working on the development of advanced satellite systems. You will own or contribute to the following:

• Design and optimization of circuitry for satellite systems
• Design the proof of concept prototypes for the next generation of satellite hardware
• Closely collaborate with radiation, power, mechanical, thermal, RF, software teams
• Design of automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory test
• Bring-up and qualification test campaigns of satellite hardware
• Lead and review PCB layout

As a hardware engineer, you will work alongside Senior Electrical Engineers supporting the design, debug, validation and optimization of the products. You will be involved in projects from concept through production, gaining exposure to the complete design lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with prototyping and implementation
• 4+ years of working in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of industrial experience especially board level analog/digital design
• 1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity
• 2+ years of experience in using schematic
• 2+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
• Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters of Science or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering
• Familiarity with analog electronic fundamentals (transistor circuits, op-amps, filters, etc)
• Experience in design, implementation, bring up and debugging of proof of concept HW and prototypes
• Familiarity with power supply design
• Proficiency in developing programs for instrument control

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
