Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking an Hardware Engineer to advance payload PCBA development for a state-of-the-art LEO satellite system. You will own designs from concept through production, shaping high-speed digital circuitry and PCB layouts in collaboration with multiple teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with prototyping and implementation.
  • 4+ years in mixed signal PCBA design.
  • 3+ years using schematic tools (Mentor Xpedition, OrCad, or Altium).
  • 2+ years using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters).
  • 1+ years of high-speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe).

Responsibilities

  • Own PCBA development from concept through production.
  • Design and optimize blocks of electronics sub-systems.
  • Design high-speed digital circuitry with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead schematic capture and PCB layout reviews.
  • Lead PCB vendor engagement for DFM review.
  • Optimize PCB stack-up for performance and cost.
  • Generate test plans/procedures from high level requirements.
  • Complete board bring-up and test campaigns for modules.
  • Design automated test systems, fixtures, and factory test.
  • Support the transition of designs to production.

A Day In The Life

As an Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative, challenging, and exciting payload systems in industry right now. You will engage with an experienced team to conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delighting customers with affordable, reliable, high bandwidth connectivity. You will work closely with Amazon Leo’s various sub-teams and engage third party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test. The Hardware Engineer will have a complete understanding of how their design changes impact downstream partners such as operations, supply chain, product management, and reliability.

  • Own PCBA development from concept through production

Export Control Requirement

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

About The Team

The payload team is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite payloads. These payload systems will meet performance requirements as well as environmental and reliability requirements. To this end, the payload team collaborates closely with all the partner teams including silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with prototyping and implementation
  • 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design
  • 3+ years of experience in using schematic tool (Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Cadence OrCad, or Altium Designer)
  • 2+ years of experience in using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
  • 1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, etc...)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience with signal and/or power integrity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
