Job summary

Amazon Leo is hiring a HW Dev Engineer - Payload to own PCBA development from concept through production. You will design sub-systems, high-speed digital circuitry, and lead vendor engagement for DFM reviews, with test planning and board bring-up across modules.

The role collaborates with multiple teams and suppliers to optimize performance, cost, and manufacturability, and includes responsibilities across testing and production hand-off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.
• 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design.
• 3+ years using schematic tools (Xpedition, OrCAD, or Altium).
• 2+ years using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters.
• 1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe).

A day in the life:

As an Hardware Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most innovative, challenging, and exciting payload systems in industry right now. You will engage with an experienced team to conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delighting customers with affordable, reliable, high bandwidth connectivity. You will work closely with Amazon Leo’s various sub-teams and engage third party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test. The Hardware Engineer will have a complete understanding of how their design changes impact downstream partners such as operations, supply chain, product management, and reliability.

About the team

The payload team is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite payloads. These payload systems will meet performance requirements as well as environmental and reliability requirements. To this end, the payload team collaborates closely with all the partner teams including silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Experience with prototyping and implementation
• 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design
• 3+ years of experience in using schematic tool (Siemens Xpedition, Cadence OrCad, or Altium Designer)
• 2+ years of experience in using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
• 1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, etc...)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• 1+ years of experience with signal and/or power integrity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
