Job summary

The State of Connecticut’s Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) seeks a Qualified Craft Worker (HVACR) to join the Physical Plant team in Rocky Hill. Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in tasks in the HVACR trade.
• Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing skilled HVACR trades.
• Substitutions allowed: vocational/technical diploma substituted for two years; UConn internship substituted for general/special experience; two years as a Qualified Craft Worker Trainee substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly skilled HVACR work on heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration systems.
• Operates, maintains, installs, repairs HVACR equipment including Freon, chilled water and air-handling components.
• Monitors and troubleshoots computerized control systems for airflow, pressurization, and system performance.
• Plans and estimates materials and cooling requirements with minimal supervision.
• Interprets psychrometric charts and performs diagnostic tests including fuel tests and gas leaks.
