Job summary

Applied Mechanical Group in California seeks a Product Technical and Startup Specialist to lead VRF startup, product training, and field support for TAS teams. You will collaborate with sales, service, and manufacturers to ensure top-tier installation and warranty outcomes.

The ideal candidate has HVAC experience, strong communication, and the ability to train others in a fast-paced environment while traveling to support customers and projects.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized engineering or construction management program is an asset.
• Technical degree or equivalent job-related experience.
• HVAC systems knowledge including DX and VRF is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; professional appearance required.
• Ability to read equipment submittal data and O&M manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup procedures according to manufacturer instructions.
• Provide technical expertise to sales and communicate best practices.
• Develop relationships with technical resources at manufacturers for support.
• Provide tech support and product knowledge to contractors during installation.
• Obtain required manufacturer certifications for field and in-house training.
• Conduct site inspections and write reports to ensure VRF compliance.
• Communicate installation deficiencies to contractor and TAS team promptly.
• Develop in-house policies to standardize VRF installation support.
• Approve extended warranties on VRF products in coordination with sales.
• Provide VRF training to ensure installers meet certification requirements.
• Expand product training to new lines with CE credits for TAS clients.
• Coordinate VRF startup and warranty work between TAS teams.
• Assist sales in business development to expand TAS opportunities.
