Job summary

GSM Services in Gastonia, NC is seeking an experienced HVAC Training & Development Manager to lead our onsite training program and grow our technician workforce. You will build structured training, deliver hands-on and classroom instruction, and shape career paths for entry-level to senior technicians while staying connected to the field.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on HVAC installation, service, maintenance, or related work.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, tools, diagnostics, and field practices.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between GSM facilities and local jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage GSM’s onsite HVAC training program.
• Develop hands-on and classroom HVAC training.
• Teach HVAC fundamentals, installation, service, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate training priorities with GSM leaders and identify skill gaps.
• Coordinate internal experts, outside instructors, vendors, and certification providers.
• Prepare coworkers for HVAC certifications and technical assessments.
• Develop training and career pathways for entry-level to experienced HVAC coworkers.
• Coach and mentor coworkers as they develop technical skills.
• Maintain training records and ensure safety training compliance.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve GSM’s programs.

GSM Services is looking for an HVAC Training & Development Manager to lead and grow our onsite HVAC training program. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HVAC professional who wants to use their field knowledge in a leadership and development role while still staying connected to the technical side of the industry.

You’ll have the opportunity to build structured training programs, provide hands‑on instruction, develop technicians at different experience levels, and help shape the future of GSM’s HVAC workforce.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage GSM’s onsite HVAC training program.
• Develop and coordinate hands-on and classroom HVAC training.
• Teach technical topics including HVAC fundamentals, installation, service, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Work with GSM leaders to identify skill gaps and determine training priorities.
• Coordinate internal experts, outside instructors, vendors, and certification providers.
• Prepare coworkers for HVAC certifications and technical assessments.
• Develop training and career pathways for entry-level, developing, and experienced HVAC coworkers.
• Coach and mentor coworkers as they develop their technical skills.
• Manage company training requirements, certifications, renewals, and training records.
• Coordinate applicable safety training and reinforce safe work practices during technical training.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve GSM’s training programs.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on HVAC field experience in installation, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, or a combination of these areas.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, tools, diagnostics, and field practices.
• Ability to explain and demonstrate technical HVAC concepts in a practical, easy-to-understand way.
• Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with everyone from entry-level coworkers to experienced technicians and company leadership.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between GSM facilities and local jobsites as needed.

Preferred

• 5+ years of HVAC field experience.
• Experience training, mentoring, or developing HVAC technicians or apprentices.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
• NATE or other recognized HVAC certification.
• Technical diploma, associate degree, apprenticeship, or other formal HVAC education.
• Experience with both residential and commercial HVAC systems.
