Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas in Plymouth, MN is seeking an Engineering Technician I-IV for our lab expansion. The role involves hands-on lab testing, instrument setup, and safe operation of equipment on 1st shift (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Mon–Fri).

Required is an Associate’s degree in HVAC&R or related experience, with preferred lab or field service background and relevant certifications. We offer extensive benefits and growth opportunities within a large HVAC organization.

• Fork truck, man lift or refrigerant handling certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab testing per procedures and ISO 17025 requirements.
• Set up/operate complex lab equipment and instruments.
• Identify nonconformities and report testing issues.
• Maintain clean work area and safety compliance.
• Communicate with lab and project teams effectively.
• Create test records and document results.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians.

• 1st shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday – Friday

Your Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing activities in accordance with standard procedures, test requirements, and the ISO 17025 standard.
• Perform scheduled instrument verification checks and periodic facility maintenance.
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify and report nonconformities and abnormal testing conditions.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are upheld at all times.
• Maintain a working knowledge of EH&S safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
• Maintain effective communication with laboratory and project teams.
• Obtain fork truck training/license, scissor lift training/license, or refrigerant handling certifications.
• Perform test unit setup according to lab procedures and test request requirements.
• Create records of testing activities and document them according to laboratory procedures.
• Improve laboratory activities on a continuous basis.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities.
• Provide direction, assistance and training to other technicians (senior roles only).

Your Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in HVAC&R or related experience
• Experience related to mechanical test lab or field service (preferred)
• Fork truck training/license, Man lift training/license, Universal card, or R410a card (preferred)
• Mentorship experience (preferred)

Ability to work at heights. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position. The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.65 to $50.77 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law. Safety-sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing. All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
