Position Overview
Conduct physical testing and validation of HVAC and automotive components in a laboratory environment. The role may be filled at either the Technician or Engineer level depending on experience. This is a full-time onsite position in Farmington Hills, MI, requiring a hands-on individual who can work independently after initial training.
1. Conduct Product Testing
- Responsible for conducting product evaluation tests per engineering test procedures using basic test apparatus available and/or by instrumenting vehicles for data collection and by building suitable test fixtures and set ups for detailed experimental testing under limited supervision of the Test Engineer.
- Assembling subassemblies for prototype testing from schematics, rough sketches and verbal instructions.
2. Maintain & Operate Test Equipment
- Responsible for preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Troubleshooting test systems to determine cause and remedy for malfunctions.
- Performing calibration checks with instruments.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble vehicle components and systems as required.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
Must-Have
- Associate's degree (minimum preferred) in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- Laboratory testing experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Preferably 5-7+ years of related experience; however, candidates may be considered at either the Technician or Engineer level depending on qualifications and experience.
- Experience performing:
- Temperature measurements
- Pressure measurements
- Flow measurements
- Product validation testing
- Ability to operate test equipment and instrumentation.
- Experience documenting test results and preparing reports.
- Ability to function independently after initial training.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Highly Preferred
- Experience with LabVIEW.
- Automotive testing experience.
- HVAC testing experience.
- Experience writing test procedures and test reports.
- Experience with HVAC systems, injection molded products, and large assembly manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting product validation and development activities within the automotive industry.
