Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Certified Master HVAC Educator (CMHE), North American Technician Excellence's (NATE) ICE, or comparable national certification required.
  • Journeyman certification issued by a plumbing apprenticeship program meeting/exceeding federal standards or related national certification with competency testing may be substituted.
  • If not certified, the certificate or national test must be completed within four years, as approved by the department chair and dean.

Responsibilities

  • Teach HVAC courses at multiple sites around the city and in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
  • Develop and use a syllabus for each course and submit to the department chair.
  • Plan and deploy diverse teaching methods and materials to meet course objectives and student differences.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback; keep accurate records and submit reports as required.
  • Review and select textbooks and learning materials for courses.
  • Provide academic advising and assist with program/discipline needs with the Chair/Director.
  • Participate in professional development, department and college activities, and program accreditation efforts.
