Job summary

SSC Services for Education, a Compass Group company, is hiring for an HVAC Maintenance Technician at University of South Florida Sarasota, FL. The role involves skilled maintenance of HVAC and related systems, working with a supervisor or master mechanic on a regular basis.

A state license for one of the trades is required along with prior institutional maintenance experience. Full-time hours, Monday–Friday with potential evenings or weekends to meet critical deadlines.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Experience reading blueprints and schematics; safety and compliance focus.
• Licenses: Journeyman Electrical, EPA refrigerant certification, or Journeyman Plumber.
• Good driving record and ability to use hand tools and basic testing equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform strenuous labor.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and simple repairs as part of a skilled trades team.
• Updates work statuses in the CMMS using a mobile device.
• Determines manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs and projects.
• Repairs HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems and related equipment.
• Responds to emergencies and performs required repairs.
• Reviews outside vendor projects and creates punch lists.
