Lee College is seeking an HVAC Technician to maintain HVAC systems across facilities. Responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, installation of equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of boilers, chillers, towers, and air handling components.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, completion of HVAC trade training or apprenticeship, at least 6 months of HVAC experience, EPA Refrigerant Recovery certification, and ability to read

Qualifications

  • Six months of HVAC experience.
  • Completion of a formal HVAC trade school or recognized apprentice program.
  • EPA Refrigerant Recovery certificate required.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot malfunctioning HVAC equipment by reviewing mechanical, electrical, and control drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain pumps, motors, piping, and controls for HVAC systems.
  • Repair equipment including leaks and defective parts; tune for optimum operations.
  • Evacuate and recharge refrigeration systems.
  • Troubleshoot 3-phase motor controls and related electrical components.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of pneumatic, electric, and direct digital control systems.
  • Coordinate with specialized contractor services on large equipment and controls.

Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Executive Director, Facilities andDirector, Physical Plant, this position will maintain heating,ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems infacilities on and off main campus. The HVAC Technician will performpreventative and corrective maintenance, and general installationof all types of HVAC equipment including boilers, chillers, coolingtowers, air handing units, fan coil units, direct expansion units,chilled and hot water pumps, condensate units, steam traps, heatexchangers, exhaust fans, fume hoods, water heaters, coolers,freezers, ice machines, and associated motors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain pumps, motors, piping, and controls for HVACsystems.
  • Repair equipment including leaks, replace defective parts, andtune equipment for optimum operations.
  • Evacuate and recharge refrigeration systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motor controls and relatedelectrical components.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of pneumatic, electric, anddirect digital control systems.
  • Work with specialized contractor services on large equipmentand controls.
  • Repair, replace, weld, and thread steel pipe and equipmentdirectly related to HVAC systems.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
  • Make deliveries to other facilities in and out of town bytruck, trailer, and/or car.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills &Abilities
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Completion of a formal HVAC trade school or recognizedapprentice program
  • Six (6) months of HVAC experience
  • Must be able to obtain an approved EPA Refrigerant Recoverycertificate
  • Must be capable of troubleshooting malfunctioning HVACequipment by reviewing mechanical, electrical, and control drawingsand troubleshoot using various test equipment
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must be familiar with and work within industry safetyrequirements for tools, equipment, and use of personal protectiveequipment
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry loads of fifty(50) pounds for fifty (50) feet or more on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to work from ladders, boom trucks, or manlift
  • Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, twist,walk, grasp/squeeze for long periods of time
  • Must be able and willing to work nights, evenings, weekends,and holidays as needed
  • Standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping,twisting, walking, grasping/squeezing.
