Job summary

County of Chester, South Carolina, through Chester County Public Works, seeks an HVAC Technician to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems across county facilities. Requires a high school diploma, accredited HVAC training or apprenticeship, EPA 608 certification or ability to obtain, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited HVAC technical training program, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
EPA Section 608 certification or ability to obtain certification.
Valid driver’s license to operate County vehicles.
Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and equipment specs.
Knowledge of HVAC electrical and mechanical systems and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems across county facilities.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections.
Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs or recommend corrective action.
Monitor energy efficiency and equipment reliability.
Respond to service requests and emergencies at facilities.
Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
Coordinate with supervisors and outside contractors as needed.
Assist with general facilities maintenance duties as assigned.
