Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks an HVAC Technician to install, repair and maintain heating and air conditioning systems across multiple school buildings. You will perform preventive maintenance, read wiring diagrams and coordinate with facility staff.

This role requires EPA refrigerant certification, a valid VA driver's license, and the ability to work independently under supervision when needed.

Qualifications

• Extensive HVAC knowledge including heating and cooling systems.
• Ability to read building plans, wiring diagrams, pneumatic, electrical and automation schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work well with others; work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
• EPA refrigerant transition and recovery certificate required.
• Building automation systems experience preferred.
• Must have a Valid VA Driver’s License; driving position; background investigations/tests.

Responsibilities

• Installs new equipment.
• Repairs and maintains a wide variety of heating and air conditioning equipment in buildings and schools.
• Inspects and performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Drains old compressors, labels and dates unit by school, compressor model and serial number, and disposes by EPA protocol.
• Works with other maintenance workers, school officials and staff to resolve maintenance problems.
• Adjusts building automation systems in response to complaints or requests.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
