Job summary

NTD Mechanical is hiring Commercial HVAC Service Technicians at levels I, II, and III to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. You will service various equipment, interpret schematics, and install controls while maintaining safety policies.

The role requires high school diploma/GED and HVAC experience appropriate to the level, plus a valid driver's license. On-call rotation and travel to client sites are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC systems and components.
• Perform preventive maintenance per agreements and manufacturer specs.
• Test system performance and identify root causes of issues.
• Service equipment such as packaged units, split systems, air-handling equipment, pumps.
• Disassemble/reassemble equipment for repairs and maintenance.
• Read schematics and technical documentation; maintain records.
• Install/maintain HVAC controls (thermostats, switches, regulators).
• Communicate findings and status to customers and service team.
• Travel to customer sites across the DFW area.
• Support on-call coverage and after-hours service as needed.

NTD Mechanical is hiring Commercial HVAC Service Technicians at multiple experience levels, from developing technicians to experienced senior technicians who will perform a diverse array of skilled tasks to maintain and repair the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems they service. The senior-level HVAC Technician III will also provide technical support, guidance, and training to their fellow technicians.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems and related components.
• Perform preventive maintenance and service work according to customer agreements and manufacturer specifications.
• Test system performance and identify the root cause of mechanical, electrical, control, and airflow issues.
• Service commercial equipment such as packaged units, split systems, air-handling equipment, pumps, and related HVAC components.
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed to complete repairs and planned maintenance.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
• Install and maintain HVAC controls and components, including thermostats, solenoids, pressure switches, temperature switches, and related devices.
• Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and job status clearly to customers and the service team.
• Document work performed, materials used, equipment condition, and recommended follow-up actions.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, parts, supplies, and assigned work areas.
• Follow OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and all NTD safety policies.
• Participate in the rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours service needs when assigned.
• Travel to customer locations throughout the DFW area.

Technician Levels

HVAC Technician I

• Approximately 0–2 years of HVAC service, maintenance, installation, or related technical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of HVAC equipment, electrical systems, mechanical components, tools, and safe work practices.
• Ability and willingness to learn commercial HVAC troubleshooting and service procedures.

HVAC Technician II

• Approximately 2–5 years of relevant HVAC experience.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems with limited supervision.
• Working knowledge of electrical circuits, controls, refrigerant procedures, and HVAC service practices.
• Experience assembling, replacing, and maintaining HVAC control devices and related components.

HVAC Technician III

• Approximately 5–7 or more years of commercial HVAC service experience.
• Advanced troubleshooting knowledge across mechanical, electrical, hydronic, and control systems.
• Experience servicing chilled water, hot water, boiler, chiller, geothermal, or similar commercial systems.
• Knowledge of DDC controls, controllers, wiring, and building management system interfaces.
• Ability to interpret system blueprints and performance data and develop wiring or layout diagrams for system modifications.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, field support, and training to developing technicians.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• HVAC service, maintenance, installation, or related technical experience appropriate to the technician level.
• Knowledge of HVAC maintenance and repair principles, electrical circuits, mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, or technical documentation.
• Knowledge of refrigerant recovery equipment and safe refrigerant-handling procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company vehicle policy requirements.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional nights or weekends based on service demands.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and service leadership.
• TDLR Technician Certification.
• EPA Section 608 Type I and Type II certifications.

Preferred

• Associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship, or formal HVAC training.
• Commercial HVAC service experience.
• Experience with hydronic systems, chillers, boilers, geothermal equipment, VRV/VRF systems, DDC controls, or building management systems.
• Experience using mobile work-order, field service, or service-management software.
