Job summary

North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I to troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including Direct Digital Control (DDC BAS) and associated components. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues while performing preventive maintenance on a range of equipment from small units to large industrial chillers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED combined with progressive HVAC experience or equivalent.
• EPA certification as Type I/II/III or Universal per 40 CFR part 82.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and building automation controls (DDC BAS).
• Operate and monitor DDC BAS to diagnose mechanical or electrical control issues.
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to service chiller, air handling units and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of HVAC systems including large chillers and computer room air conditioning.
