Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an HVAC Mechanic to support campus HVAC systems and refrigeration equipment, including complex air-drying equipment and DX units. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, replace compressors, repair leaks, and work with control circuits; EPA refrigerant management is part of the role.

A valid NC driver's license is required; EPA 608 certification must be obtained within the first year; standard 40-hour workweek, on-site in

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; relevant trade experience may substitute.
• Must obtain EPA 608 refrigerant certification within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Supports campus HVAC systems and refrigeration equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on DX units, package units, ice machines, Liebert systems and small chillers.
• Troubleshoots control circuits and replaces compressors; repairs refrigerant leaks and fan/blower motors.
