Job summary

UG2 is seeking a Maintenance Technician I – HVAC in Cambridge, MA to support state-of-the-art life science facilities. You will perform inspections, testing, repair, and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

The role includes system design input, on-call emergencies, and collaboration with a growing team. You will work with a team to ensure reliability and uptime, maintain safety standards, and support energy management initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years of related experience.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with large tonnage HVAC equipment.
• Must be able to change refrigeration compressors, service cooling towers, rebuild or replace large centrifugal pumps, service & repair VAV boxes.
• Deep understanding of the building management system is required.
• MA Refrigeration license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Building Automation System experience.

Responsibilities

• Share knowledge and best practices with maintenance team to improve performance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and trend facilities systems via the building management system.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls to identify problems and perform repairs.
• Perform pump rebuilds and replacements to ensure operation of HVAC/building systems.
• Foster contractor and vendor relationships.
• Inspect, adjust, modify, and repair boilers, heating/cooling systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Provide initial response and repairs for building infrastructure maintenance, focusing on HVAC.
• Operate and maintain the Energy Management System, Building Automated System, and Fire Safety System.
