Qualifications

Job Title: HVAC Technician
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role involves working with commercial and/or residential HVAC equipment, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, a commitment to safety, and a focus on delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems for commercial and/or residential applications.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using appropriate testing equipment and diagnostic tools.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on air handlers, rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, chillers, heat pumps, boilers, and ventilation equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and control systems.

  • Conduct system performance testing and recommend necessary repairs, adjustments, or equipment upgrades.

  • Respond promptly to service calls and emergency maintenance requests, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support accurate installation and repair work.

  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and maintenance logs to document work performed and parts used.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and company safety policies in all work performed.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, facility staff, vendors, and internal teams regarding system status, repair needs, and recommendations.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a clean, safe, and professional condition.

Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of HVAC maintenance or service experience.

  • Strong HVAC troubleshooting and repair skills for heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems.

  • Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance on a variety of HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, RTUs, split systems, and ventilation equipment.

  • Hands-on experience with refrigeration systems and refrigeration cycles.

  • Ability to perform electrical diagnostics, including reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Mechanical aptitude with proven mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities.

  • Knowledge of HVAC electrical systems, mechanical systems, and preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Experience working with building automation systems (BAS) or control systems.

  • Solid understanding of safety compliance requirements, including OSHA regulations and EPA standards.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Effective time management skills to prioritize and complete work orders and service calls efficiently.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a field or facility environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • EPA Universal Certification (required).

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work on rooftops, access confined spaces, and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • HVAC trade school certification or completion of technical training in HVAC or a related field.

  • Experience working with commercial HVAC systems.

  • Experience servicing chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and building automation systems (BAS).

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

  • NATE, NCCER, or other recognized industry certifications.

  • Experience with facilities maintenance and facility systems.

  • Familiarity with ballast replacement and electrical troubleshooting in a facilities environment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills for service work on HVAC and related systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed service documentation and maintenance logs.

Work Environment

This role is based on-site at a headquarters facility and involves working directly with HVAC, refrigeration, and building automation systems in a real-world operational environment. Work is performed in mechanical rooms, rooftops, indoor plant areas, and outdoor locations, often requiring climbing ladders, accessing confined spaces, and working in varying weather conditions. The position involves regular use of hand and power tools, diagnostic instruments, and testing equipment, and requires adherence to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and professional work setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
