Service Corporation International in California seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to install, maintain and repair commercial HVAC systems, ensuring comfort and safety for guests and staff. You will read blueprints, diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, document work, and provide accurate cost estimates.

Requires 5+ years' experience, EPA 608, and a valid driver's license; willing to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems for commercial facilities.
• Inspects systems to identify leaks, clogs, and faulty components.
• Troubleshoots problems including electrical, thermostats, motors, and refrigerant levels.
• Performs routine maintenance and checks system performance for efficiency.
• Installs ductwork, refrigerant lines, and related equipment per regs and specs.
• Maintains accurate service records of work performed.
• Provides estimates for repair costs, upgrades, or new installations.
• Explains procedures and repairs to customers clearly.
• Ensures safety standards and codes are followed.
• Collaborates with team to complete complex installations and repairs.

This position will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial environments. This position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with HVAC systems, a strong work ethic, and a dedication to ensuring the comfort and safety of associates and clients in our facilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) for commercial facilities.

• Inspects HVAC systems to identify issues such as leaks, clogs, and faulty components.

• Troubleshoots HVAC system problems, including diagnosing issues with electrical connections, thermostats, motors, and refrigerant levels.

• Performs routine maintenance such as cleaning, replacing filters, and checking system performance to ensure efficiency.

• Installs ductwork, refrigerant lines, thermostats, and related equipment according to safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.

• Maintains accurate service records, documenting all work completed, including repairs, installations, and parts used.

• Provides estimates for repair costs, system upgrades, or new installations to customers.

• Explains maintenance procedures, system operations, and repair needs to customers in clear, understandable terms.

• Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations, including local and federal codes, as well as manufacturer guidelines.

• Collaborates with team members and supervisors to complete complex installations and repairs in a timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required

Certification/License

• Valid HVAC-R Technician License (Type A or B) preferred
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification preferred
• Valid state driver’s license in good standing required

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HVAC technician or in a similar field is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Work CONDITIONS

Work Environment

• Exposure to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity.
• Work may be required in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in attics or basements.
• Use of safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and protective footwear.
• Must be comfortable working with high-voltage electrical systems and potentially hazardous materials such as refrigerants.
• May support multiple sites requiring local travel

• Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently

Physical Demands

• Physical demands include bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces.

• Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on workload and emergency service needs.
• On-call rotation may be part of the position.
• Working beyond “standard” hours as the need arises

Compensation:

Salary: $ 32.25 - $41.75 an hour based on experience
