Job summary

Trane Technologies in the United States (South Carolina) is seeking a Technical Product Support Engineer to assist with startup, operation, and service of Trane scroll chillers. The role is primarily on-site Monday to Thursday, with Friday location flexibility, and requires strong customer service and documentation skills.

The candidate will work with Carel and Symbio controls, BACnet, and field troubleshooting to remotely guide customers, assess skill levels, and determine best action.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience servicing HVAC equipment and systems (preferred).
• Associates or Bachelors in Engineering preferred but not required.
• Professionally trained on various Trane equipment.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Understand temperature and pressure theories and basic electrical theories.
• MS Office proficiency and handheld device usage.
• Experience with Zendesk software for support cases.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers remotely through startup, operation, and troubleshooting of HVAC products.
• Determine root cause using available resources to resolve issues and prioritize actions.
• Make pivotal decisions to allocate company resources to resolve customer issues.
• Coordinate with manufacturing site teams and field offices.
• Monitor inbound support requests and maintain customer communication until resolved.
• Assess customer experience level to ensure safety and appropriate guidance.
• Document solutions and create reusable knowledge for internal/external use.
• Coordinate with internal teams on quality escapes, design errors, and service bulletins.
• Contribute to New Product Introduction projects focusing on unit serviceability.
