Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a Sustaining Engineer in Dallas, TX to support existing HVAC product lines across their lifecycle. You will ensure performance, quality, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance while backing factory operations and driving continuous improvement.

You will provide daily engineering support to production, manage ECNs and BOM updates, develop minor design changes for manufacturability, and mentor junior engineers on sustaining projects, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 2–5 years of sustaining/manufacturing/HVAC product engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with ECNs, BOM management, and supplier qualification.
• Proficiency with CAD and PLM tools (SolidWorks/Creo, Teamcenter/Windchill).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel and spend time on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily engineering support to production and factory operations.
• Manage ECNs, BOM updates, and supplier qualification testing.
• Develop and validate minor design modifications to improve manufacturability or quality.
• Participate in cost-reduction and process improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with supply chain to qualify alternate suppliers and materials.
• Apply structured problem-solving tools (FMEA, RCA, 8D) to resolve challenges.
• Interface with suppliers and factory leadership to address technical issues.
• Maintain engineering documentation and compliance records.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers or interns on small sustaining projects.
