Job summary

Highland Consulting Group is partnering with a well-established regional mechanical contractor in the Baltimore, MD area to identify an experienced HVAC / Sheet Metal Project Manager who can lead large, complex projects with a focus on profitability and client satisfaction. You will coordinate with owners, subcontractors, field teams, and vendors, while managing budgets, schedules, and change orders.

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing HVAC/sheet metal projects.
• Experience with projects valued over $20 million preferred.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, contracts and cost reporting.
• Strong owner communication and change management experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage HVAC/sheet metal projects from award to closeout.
• Coordinate with schedulers, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors and owners to keep on time and within budget.
• Prepare, estimate, negotiate, and track change orders; maintain project documentation.
• Manage budgets, approve expenses, monitor cost performance, protect profitability.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, procurement and equipment buyout.
• Oversee subcontract and equipment buyout processes.
• Maintain communication with owners and stakeholders to align expectations and schedules.
• Ensure records, reports and closeout documentation are complete and timely.
• Lead punch-list coordination with superintendent and subs to drive timely completion.
• Build and maintain client relationships to support repeat business.

Position Overview:

We are partnering with a well-established regional mechanical contractor in the Baltimore, MD area to identify an experienced HVAC / Sheet Metal Project Manager. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage assigned HVAC / Sheet Metal projects from award through final closeout.
• Coordinate with schedulers, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and owners to keep projects moving on time and within budget.
• Prepare, estimate, negotiate, and track change orders while maintaining accurate project documentation.
• Work closely with senior project leadership to manage budgets, approve expenses, monitor cost performance, and protect project profitability.
• Administer project contracts, subcontracts, procurement activities, and equipment buyout.
• Oversee the buyout process for subcontracts and equipment procurement.
• Maintain strong communication with owners and project stakeholders to ensure expectations, schedules, and deliverables remain aligned.
• Ensure project records, reports, and closeout documentation are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.
• Lead punch-list coordination with the superintendent, owner's representative, and subcontractors to drive timely completion.
• Build and maintain client relationships that support repeat business and long-term account growth.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing commercial, institutional, or government HVAC / Sheet Metal projects, preferably with project values over $20 million.
• Proven ability to lead project teams and manage project controls, budgets, schedules, contracts, and cost reporting.
• Strong understanding of project timelines, financial performance, change management, and owner communication.
• Successful background estimating, negotiating, and documenting change orders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead productive meetings, and coordinate effectively across office, field, owner, and subcontractor teams.
• Stable work history with a record of successfully delivering complex mechanical projects.
