Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Mid South is seeking a motivated HVAC Sheet Metal Apprentice II to join our commercial construction team in Huntsville, AL. You will work under experienced sheet metal mechanics to develop advanced installation skills and assist with fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal systems including ductwork and related components.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-2 years of commercial HVAC sheet metal experience or equivalent trade school/apprenticeship experience.
• Basic understanding of commercial sheet metal fabrication and installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic measurements.
• Familiarity with SMACNA installation standards preferred.
• Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as project schedules require.
• Reliable transportation to assigned job sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of commercial HVAC sheet metal systems.
• Install ductwork and HVAC components in accordance with SMACNA standards.
• Assist with the installation of air terminal units (ATUs), rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, and related HVAC equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and installation details under the guidance of experienced mechanics.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install sheet metal using hand and power tools.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas while protecting materials and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with sheet metal mechanics, foremen, project managers, and other trade partners.
• Follow OSHA regulations and Comfort Systems USA Mid South safety policies at all times.
• Accurately complete assigned tasks while maintaining quality workmanship.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
