Job summary

Tyler Air in Stratford, CT is seeking an energetic HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of residential and light commercial systems. The role requires a Connecticut S-1/S-2 license and EPA Universal Certification, with a base hourly pay of $48–$52 plus commission.

You’ll work 80% residential and 20% commercial, operate with strong safety standards, and have opportunities for advancement, a company vehicle, and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Active Connecticut S-1 or S-2 journeyman license required.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • 2+ years HVAC experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems.
  • Service and work on all HVAC equipment types listed, including central AC, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, rooftop units, air handlers, ventilation and controls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service calls.
  • Complete approximately 4-6 service calls per day, depending on call volume.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and educate on HVAC concerns.
  • Identify opportunities for repairs, replacements, and system improvements.
  • Generate sales opportunities through service calls and earn commission on sold jobs.
  • Submit daily service reports and maintain customer relationships.
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship and safety standards.

Tyler Air is seeking an energetic HVAC Service Technician for our Stratford, CT location. The ideal candidate will hold a valid S-1 or S-2 Connecticut HVAC license and have strong hands-on experience diagnosing, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of HVAC equipment. This position is mainly residential with some commercial work, requiring excellent technical skills, professionalism, independence, and a strong commitment to quality workmanship.

Schedule:
  • Typical start time is 7:00 AM, with the workday continuing until assigned calls are completed
  • Approximately 80% residential and 20% commercial work
  • On-call rotation approximately once every 5 weeks
Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems
  • Service and work on all types of HVAC equipment including central air conditioning systems, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, rooftop units, air handlers, ventilation and exhaust systems, ductless mini-splits, refrigeration, thermostats, controls and related electrical and mechanical components
  • Perform preventative maintenance and service calls
  • Complete approximately 4-6 service calls per day, depending on call volume and complexity
  • Communicate professionally with customers to educate, build relationships, and address their HVAC concerns
  • Identify opportunities to recommend appropriate repairs, replacements, and system improvements
  • Generate sales opportunities through service calls and earn commission on sold jobs and service flips
  • Complete service reports to be submitted daily
  • Build and maintain customer relationships in the field to ensure excellent customer service and enhance the company’s image
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship and safety standards according to company policy
Job Qualifications:
  • Active Connecticut S-1 or S-2 journeyman license required
  • 2+ years of HVAC experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • EPA Universal Certification required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Course preferred
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship

The starting yearly base salary range for this position is $48-52/hr. This is the range of the base pay only; it does not include other components that make up the total compensation package of the position. If offered a position, your total compensation package will be determined by experience, location, skills, and/or education which may result in a total compensation package that falls outside of the provided range.
