Job summary

R&C Heating and Cooling Service is seeking an HVAC Service Technician with 5+ years of hands-on experience to diagnose, repair, and service residential and light commercial systems in Santa Monica and surrounding LA County communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC service and repair experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
• EPA Section 608 certification appropriate for the equipment serviced.
• Experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and refrigerant system understanding.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Own basic HVAC technician hand tools.
• Excellent customer service and clear communication.
• Reliable attendance and team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair central air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, and related systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors, and control boards.
• Read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic instruments.
• Locate leaks and perform recovery, evacuation, and charging.
• Evaluate airflow and ductwork; provide recommendations.
• Document readings and work performed in the system.
• Assist with installations and replacements as needed.
• Maintain clean vehicles and work areas; follow safety practices.

Job Type: Full-time, W-2

Pay: $35–$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

R&C Heating and Cooling Service is a locally owned, owner‑operated HVAC company serving residential and commercial customers throughout Los Angeles County.

We’re looking for an HVAC Service Technician with at least five (5) years of hands‑on service and repair experience. You should be comfortable diagnosing problems independently, explaining your findings to customers, and completing repairs with care and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair central air conditioners, gas furnaces, heat pumps, packaged units, and ductless mini‑split systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including filter replacement, coil cleaning, condensate drain maintenance, and equipment inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors, capacitors, contactors, control boards, thermostats, and other HVAC components.
• Read wiring diagrams and use electrical and refrigerant diagnostic instruments.
• Locate refrigerant leaks and perform recovery, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging according to manufacturer procedures and applicable requirements.
• Evaluate airflow, filtration, accessible ductwork, and condensate drainage.
• Explain diagnostic findings, repair options, and maintenance recommendations clearly and professionally.
• Document readings, photos, materials used, work performed, and recommendations in Housecall Pro.
• Assist with equipment installations and replacements as needed.
• Keep the company vehicle, tools, and customer work areas clean and organized.
• Follow safe work practices and manufacturer service instructions.

Required Qualifications

• At least five years of hands‑on HVAC service and repair experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently.
• EPA Section 608 certification appropriate for the equipment serviced.
• Experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting and refrigerant systems.
• Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
• Own basic HVAC technician hand tools.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable attendance, attention to detail, and a team‑oriented attitude.
• Ability to perform essential field duties, including climbing ladders, accessing attics and rooftops, and lifting or moving up to 40 pounds, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Universal certification.
• Experience with Daikin, Mitsubishi, Bosch, and other major HVAC brands.
• Experience with inverter‑driven equipment and VRF/VRV systems.
• HVAC installation and equipment replacement experience.
• Familiarity with Housecall Pro or similar field service software.

Schedule and Transportation

This is a full-time field position serving Santa Monica, West Los Angeles, and surrounding communities. Technicians report to our shop to pick up and return the company service van. Daily assignments are coordinated with the owners.
