Job summary

Techstar Mechanical Services, LLC is seeking a mid-level to experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose and repair residential and light commercial systems across the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. You will troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance while communicating clearly with customers.

Qualifications

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and identify system performance concerns.
• Experience with gas furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning systems, mini-splits, and IAQ accessories preferred.
• EPA Certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems

• Troubleshoot heating, cooling, airflow, and comfort-related issues
• Build trust with customers through clear communication, professionalism, and a helpful attitude
• Explain findings and repair options in a respectful, educational, and non-pressure manner

• Maintain accurate job notes, photos, and documentation through company software
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and office staff throughout the workday
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and job materials in a clean and organized manner
• Follow company procedures and safety standards

Techstar Mechanical Services is seeking a mid-level to experienced HVAC Service Technician with hands‑on service experience who is comfortable troubleshooting and diagnosing residential and light commercial HVAC systems.

We are a growing, family‑owned HVAC company serving the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and surrounding areas. This is a full‑time position, primarily Monday–Friday, serving residential and light commercial customers throughout the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and surrounding areas. Participation in an on‑call rotation is required and shared among service technicians.

Compensation Details

The pay range for this role is $30–$40/hour, depending on experience, diagnostic ability, and overall skill level. Overtime and additional compensation for on‑call responsibilities are offered. Details will be discussed during the interview process.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• Mid‑level to experienced HVAC service background
• Comfortable troubleshooting and diagnosing HVAC systems
• Experience with residential and light commercial HVAC equipment
• Experience with gas furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning systems, mini‑splits, air handlers, thermostats, and indoor air quality accessories preferred
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record required
• EPA Certification preferred but not required
• Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift equipment and materials as needed
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation
