Job summary

Fresh Air L.P. is seeking an HVAC Service Technician in Richmond, CA. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems while identifying opportunities for upgrades and new installations.

The role blends technical service with sales, aiming to improve energy efficiency and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include advising customers on improvements, closing sales for upgrades, and collaborating with dispatch and sales teams to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• EPA certification required.
• 3+ years HVAC service experience required.
• Strong sales, customer service and closing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Fluent in English (reading/writing).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems.
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and company protocols.
• Explain potential improvements and upgrades to customers to benefit long-term performance.
• Identify and present HVAC product and service recommendations; close sales for upgrades or new installations.
• Build rapport with customers and provide clear, honest advice.
• Generate new business opportunities through referrals and follow-ups while on the job.
• Coordinate with dispatch and sales teams to ensure timely scheduling and follow-up on leads.
• Meet and exceed personal sales goals while delivering high-quality service.

Who You Are

As an HVAC Service Technician you will play a key role in providing exceptional service while also identifying and recommending HVAC solutions that improve the performance and energy efficiency of our customers' systems. This is not your typical technician role— it's about offering value-driven solutions, ensuring customers’ systems run at peak performance, and closing sales that make sense for the customer’s needs.

You'll combine your HVAC expertise with sales techniques to identify opportunities for service upgrades, system replacements, and other solutions that enhance the overall customer experience. Your goal? To deliver excellent service while building long-lasting relationships and growing the business.

Essential Job Functions

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and company protocols
• Engage customers in meaningful conversations about their HVAC systems, educating them on potential improvements, upgrades, or repairs that will benefit them in the long run
• Identify and present HVAC product and service recommendations based on customer needs and system analysis. Close sales for system upgrades, new equipment installations, and preventative maintenance plans.
• Establish rapport and trust with customers by offering tailored solutions, handling objections with professionalism, and providing clear, honest advice.
• Generate new business opportunities through customer referrals, follow-ups, and actively seeking potential service or upgrade opportunities while on the job.
• Work closely with our dispatch and sales teams to ensure timely scheduling and seamless follow-up on leads or job opportunities.
• Meet and exceed personal sales goals while maintaining high standards of technical service.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• EPA
• 3+ years of HVAC Service experience
• Strong sales, customer service, and closing skills
• Exceptional communication/interpersonal skills
• Assertive and confident personality
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make appropriate decisions
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks accurately
• Commitment to company values
• Ability to climb into and through attics and crawl spaces
• Ability to work outside and in extreme temperatures
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Basic computer skills
• Reliable & punctual attendance
• Ability to be flexible in working a variable schedule including evenings and rotational weekends
• Fluent ability to speak, read, and write in the English language

Preferred Qualifications

• Service Titan experience

Compensation & Hours

• Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour plus commission
• Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (flexible start and end times depending on business needs)
• Days: Monday - Friday with occasional weekends
