Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced leader to manage HVAC service teams and drive safe, efficient maintenance for commercial clients. You will oversee service agreements, repairs, and time & material work, guiding supervisors, coaching staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 7 years of HVAC service maintenance and repair experience with lead responsibilities.
• OSHA-30 certification required within six months of hire.
• Valid U.S. Driver License and clean driving record.
• Trade/technical training program completed preferred.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, chillers, RTUs, VRF systems, controls, and BAS.

Responsibilities

• Direct delivery and financial performance of a book of business (service agreements, repairs, time & materials).
• Lead teams typically via supervisors; monitor performance and provide appraisals.
• Coach, train, and develop employees; manage safety and compliance.
• Assist with service quotes and estimates to support sales and growth.
• Review financials, sales reports, and productivity data to identify cost reductions.
• Ensure quality of work and alignment with customer expectations.
• Coordinate with account managers to understand scope before repairs or maintenance.
• Visit job sites to evaluate technician performance and safety compliance.
• Oversee procurement of supplies/equipment and strengthen customer relationships.

Position Summary

Manages teams of HVAC service technicians through service supervisors in the safe and efficient servicing of commercial industry trades, equipment, components & systems.

Position Details

• Directly responsible for the overall delivery and financial performance of a book of business - made up of Service Agreements, Quoted Repairs and T&M (Time & Material) Work.
• Manages assigned teams typically lead by supervisors. Manages and monitors team
• performance. Communicates goals and provides performance appraisals to direct reports.
• Provides coaching, training and development plans as appropriate.
• Manages teams to meet growth and profitability goals. Ensures technicians adhere to all legal, regulatory compliance, safety and risk management policies and procedures.
• Provides technical support and guidance to supervisor and technicians as needed.
• Assists with service quotes and estimates to support sales and growth initiatives. Assists sales staff, as requested, with collecting data necessary to assemble accurate and timely service estimates.
• Manages and reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievements and identifies areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
• Monitors work performed to ensure quality of work, cost estimates and customer expectations are met.
• Coordinates with account managers to discuss and fully understand customer scope of service prior to assuming responsibility for quoted repairs or new maintenance contracts.
• Visits job sites to evaluate technician abilities, performance, and safety compliance.
• Manages the selection, ordering and delivery of supplies and equipment for technicians on assigned projects.
• Strengthens customer relationship and investigates customer complaints to help remedy the situation and promptly implement corrective measures as required. Identifies trends and recommends sustainable solution to the next level of management as appropriate.
• Actively involved in the hiring, development and counseling of employees, including developing and conducting group meetings and training employees.
• Performs additional assignments as requested/needed.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED
• 7 years of experience performing HVAC service maintenance and repair work within the mechanical industry, including lead experience
• OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
• Valid U.S. Driver License and clean driving record
• Successful completion of a trade/technical training program preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, RTUs, VRF systems, controls, and building automation systems.
• Working knowledge of business/industry practices, processes and standards
• Strong understanding of service scheduling, dispatching, and operational performance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to successfully lead a team and motivate workers
