Job summary

A.B May, Kansas City’s premier family-operated plumbing service provider, seeks an HVAC Selling Technician to drive in-home sales and service for residential systems. You will diagnose, service, and repair HVAC equipment, explain performance and repair options in simple terms, and promote upgrades and service plans.

Operations emphasize safety, EPA/OSHA compliance, and documentation using ServiceTitan or similar software.

Qualifications

• Proven success in Residential HVAC sales or in-home service recommendations.
• 2+ years of residential HVAC service experience.
• High school diploma or GED; technical training a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build trust with customers by clearly explaining system performance and repair needs in everyday language.
• Present service options, recommend system upgrades or replacements, and promote add-on products.
• Generate and close in-home sales opportunities for equipment, accessories, and service plans.
• Diagnose, service, and repair residential HVAC systems (air handlers, condensers, ductwork, thermostats, drainage, etc.).
• Perform system cleanings, adjustments, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
• Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
• Accurately document all work and recommendations using ServiceTitan or similar field service software.

• Build trust with customers by clearly explaining system performance and repair needs in everyday language

What You Will Bring:

• Proven success in Residential HVAC sales or in-home service recommendations
• 2+ years of residential HVAC service experience
• High school diploma or GED; technical training a plus
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, and rooftops
• Excellent communication skills, a customer-first mindset, and a drive to meet performance goals
• Willingness to participate in rotating on-call shifts

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, basements).
• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and bending.
• Ability to work at heights (e.g., ladders, elevated plat forms).
• Manual dexterity to handle electrical tools and equipment.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions when performing outdoor installations.
