Job summary

Protouch Staffing is seeking an experienced HVAC Sales Engineer to develop and maintain key customer relationships across contractors, engineers, and facility owners. You will analyze requirements and recommend HVAC solutions, review specs and drawings, and prepare detailed quotations and proposals.

The role demands strong reading of construction documents, energy-efficiency recommendations, and the ability to manage multiple projects from quotation to installation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field; HVAC experience preferred.
  • 3–7+ years in HVAC sales, application engineering, or related industry.
  • Commercial HVAC experience required; ability to read construction docs.
  • Familiarity with HVAC controls, chillers, boilers, VRF, AHUs, rooftops.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements and recommend HVAC equipment and system solutions.
  • Review project specs, drawings, bid documents, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare equipment selections, layouts, quotations, bids, and proposals.
  • Provide product presentations and technical demonstrations.
  • Support customers with design, energy efficiency, and application engineering.
  • Prepare accurate proposal and bid packages.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project management.
  • Monitor project status from quotation through installation and completion.
  • Ensure solutions comply with codes, standards, and customer needs.
  • Serve as primary technical contact for assigned customers; resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain customer data and sales activities in CRM; conduct visits and follow-ups.
  • Identify new opportunities and support revenue growth.

Job Roles And Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment selections, system layouts, quotations, bids, and technical proposals.
  • Provide product presentations and technical demonstrations to customers and consulting engineers.
  • Support customers with system design, application engineering, and energy efficiency recommendations.

  • Ensure proposed solutions comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.

  • Resolve technical and commercial issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain customer information and sales activities in CRM systems.
  • Conduct customer visits and follow up on sales opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities and support revenue growth.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions.
  • Provide management with feedback regarding customer needs and emerging market opportunities.
  • Stay current with HVAC technologies, energy efficiency programs, industry regulations, and applicable standards.
  • Manage multiple projects, customer requirements, and deadlines simultaneously.
Qualifications And Certifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and HVAC industry experience may be considered.
  • 3 to 7 or more years of experience in HVAC sales, application engineering, mechanical contracting, or a related industry.
  • Commercial HVAC experience is required.
  • Experience with HVAC controls, chillers, boilers, VRF systems, air handlers, and rooftop units.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, thermodynamics, and mechanical equipment applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with HVAC load calculations and equipment selection software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
  • LEED accreditation or energy efficiency certification is preferred.
  • Experience with design-build projects and consulting engineer relationships is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and applicable building codes is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites, construction projects, and industry events.
  • Ability to walk construction sites and mechanical rooms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift equipment samples or marketing materials up to 25 pounds.
