Job summary

Broward County Aviation Department is seeking a skilled refrigeration mechanic to install, maintain, and repair refrigeration equipment, air conditioning systems, and centrifugal chillers across county facilities. The role requires navigating complex systems and following blueprints to ensure safe, compliant operation.

The candidate should have two years of journey level experience, EPA universal certification, and a valid Florida Class E license.

Qualifications

• Requires two years in journey level refrigeration mechanic or related experience.
• EPA Universal Certification required.
• Associate's degree in refrigeration mechanics preferred.
• Commercial chiller/cooling tower repair and maintenance experience is a plus.
• PC Air repair and maintenance experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Overhaul and service refrigeration units: check repair, replacement, and adjustment of worn parts; test equipment for leaks.
• Service air conditioning units, refrigerators, and cooling systems across County facilities; follow drawings and blueprints.
• Read gauges, determine temperature/pressure, adjust valves and pumps, and charge refrigerant.
• Maintain up-to-date job orders and records; ensure quality and compliance with codes and regulations.
• Repair valves, piping, and components; rebuild cooling towers and fans as needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
