Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of General Services seeks an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic to support essential systems across state facilities in Harrisburg. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration equipment, coordinate with outside contractors, and ensure safety and compliance in daily operations.

EPA Universal Refrigerant certification and a valid driver’s license are required; work schedule is 7:00 AM to 3:00

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required within 6 months of employment.
• Active motor vehicle license required.
• Associates Degree in HVAC or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Equipment evaluation and adjustments to correct deficiencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance: replace filters, clean coils, inspect components.
• Use meters and test instruments to measure performance and identify irregular readings.
• Repair HVAC components such as valves, motors, dampers, and fans.
• Install basic HVAC units such as split systems and ventilation equipment.
• Handle refrigerants per EPA regulations and disposal procedures.
