Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a skilled HVAC technician to install, maintain, and repair facility systems including medical gas and fire protection. The role supports a large, Magnet-certified hospital with strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, system calibration, and operating the building automation system to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Associate or trade school equivalent required.
• 2–5 years of experience in facilities HVAC or related.
• Universal EPA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains facility HVAC, medical gas, fluid equipment distribution and fire protection systems.
• Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance including calibration, alignment, and balancing.

Facilities Engineering maintains 6 million square foot of facilities dedicated to clinical and academic functions. Facilities Engineering is comprised of 150 professionals, including engineers, MEP mechanics, building finishes and support staff. The Facilities and Engineering department at Barnes Jewish Hospital is a progressive, innovative department which stresses employee involvement, continued education/training and opportunities for advancement. Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Install, maintain, and repair various facility HVAC, refrigeration, and specialty systems such as medical gas and fire protection systems including distribution piping and electro-mechanical equipment and devices. Accomplishes the most difficult repairs and overhauls on any of the mechanical equipment in any facility in the system.

Responsibilities

• Keeps equipment clean and operational. Handles and disposes of hazardous and or infectious waste properly and practices infection control. Adheres to regulatory guidelines.
• Repairs and maintains all aspects of the facility's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, medical gas, fluid equipment distribution and fire protection systems.
• Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment including calibration, alignment, and balancing.
• Ensures all completed assignments meet all applicable code requirements.
• Operates building automation system and makes modifications and additions to the system as required.
