Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking an HVAC technician to install, repair, and maintain complex facilities systems. The role focuses on health facility operations and safety, with 4–10 hour shifts from 2pm to 12:30am, Wednesday through Saturday.

You will work with building automation systems, medical gas, and fire protection components, performing preventative maintenance and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Associate or trade school equivalent education.
  • 2-5 years of experience in facilities or HVAC maintenance.
  • Universal EPA certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps equipment clean and operational. Handles and disposes of hazardous and/or infectious waste properly and practices infection control. Adheres to regulatory guidelines.
  • Repairs and maintains facility heating, ventilation and air conditioning, medical gas, fluid equipment distribution and fire protection systems.
  • Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment including calibration, alignment, and balancing.
  • Ensures all completed assignments meet all applicable code requirements.
  • Operates building automation system and makes modifications and additions to the system as required.

Facilities Engineering maintains 6 million square foot of facilities dedicated to clinical and academic functions. Facilities Engineering is comprised of 150 professionals, including engineers, MEP mechanics, building finishes and support staff. The Facilities and Engineering department at Barnes Jewish Hospital is a progressive, innovative department which stresses employee involvement, continued education/training and opportunities for advancement. Role Purpose

Install, maintain, and repair various facility HVAC, refrigeration, and specialty systems such as medical gas and fire protection systems including distribution piping and electro-mechanical equipment and devices. Accomplishes the most difficult repairs and overhauls on any of the mechanical equipment in any facility in the system.
