Job summary

Andrews is seeking an experienced refrigeration technician to diagnose and repair commercial systems in Prescott, Flagstaff, and Camp Verde. You will install, test, and maintain walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and HVAC components for hospitality, healthcare, and retail clients.

The role requires EPA 608 certification, 3–5 years of experience, and the ability to read schematics and work with various tools.

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Certification is required.
• 3-5 years of refrigeration installation, maintenance, and repair experience.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used in refrigeration work.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers and ice machines.
• Perform scheduled maintenance to ensure efficiency and prevent breakdowns.
• Charge systems with refrigerant and verify operation.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration malfunctions (compressors, condensers, valves, electrical controls).
• Identify leaks and replace worn components to meet manufacturer specs.
• Use refrigerant recovery equipment and pressure gauges for diagnostics.
• Provide professional customer service and explain repair needs.

The Job

You will be in the field every day diagnosing and fixing commercial refrigeration systems — walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, reach-in units, and more. Your customers are restaurants, convenience stores, schools, and hospitals. When their equipment goes down they need someone who can fix it right.

Responsibilities

Installation and Maintenance

• Install, test, and commission refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and HVAC systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections to ensure system efficiency and prevent breakdowns.
• Charge refrigeration systems with the appropriate refrigerant and verify proper operation.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration system malfunctions, including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, and electrical controls.
• Identify and fix leaks, replace worn components, and ensure systems operate within manufacturer specifications.
• Utilize specialized tools, such as refrigerant recovery equipment and pressure gauges, for accurate diagnostics.

Compliance & Safety:

• Follow local, state, and federal regulations regarding refrigerant handling (EPA Section 608 Certification required).
• Adhere to workplace safety standards, including OSHA guidelines, to prevent hazards such as electrical shocks or refrigerant exposure.
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, refrigerant usage, and system performance reports.

Customer Service & Communication:

• Provide professional customer service when interacting with clients and explaining repair needs.
• Recommend system upgrades or preventative maintenance solutions to extend equipment life.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding job progress and technical issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

• EPA Section 608 Certification
• 3-5 years of experience in refrigeration installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used in refrigeration work.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment (50+ lbs.).
• Work in various environments, including cold storage facilities, restaurants, grocery stores, and outdoor locations.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, refrigerants, and electrical components.
• May require on-call availability, overtime, and travel to job sites in a company-provided vehicle.
