Job summary

Andrews is hiring a field refrigeration technician to diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration systems on-site for restaurants, hospitals, and institutions across Arizona.

You will install, test, and maintain walk-in coolers, ice machines, and HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with safety and EPA regulations. Strong problem-solving, blueprint-reading, and tool skills are essential, with travel in company-provided vehicle possible.

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 Certification required.
• 3-5 years of refrigeration installation, maintenance, and repair experience.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Proficient with hand and power tools used in refrigeration work.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission refrigeration systems including walk-ins and ice machines.
• Perform scheduled maintenance to ensure system efficiency and prevent breakdowns.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in compressors, condensers, valves, and controls.
• Identify and fix leaks and replace worn components per manufacturer specs.

The Job

You will be in the field every day diagnosing and fixing commercial refrigeration systems - walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, reach-in units, and more. Your customers are restaurants, convenience stores, schools, and hospitals. When their equipment goes down they need someone who can fix it right.

Responsibilities

Installation and Maintenance

• Install, test, and commission refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and HVAC systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections to ensure system efficiency and prevent breakdowns.
• Charge refrigeration systems with the appropriate refrigerant and verify proper operation.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration system malfunctions, including compressors, condensers, expansion valves, and electrical controls.
• Identify and fix leaks, replace worn components, and ensure systems operate within manufacturer specifications.
• Utilize specialized tools, such as refrigerant recovery equipment and pressure gauges, for accurate diagnostics.

Compliance & Safety:

• Follow local, state, and federal regulations regarding refrigerant handling (EPA Section 608 Certification required).
• Adhere to workplace safety standards, including OSHA guidelines, to prevent hazards such as electrical shocks or refrigerant exposure.
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, refrigerant usage, and system performance reports.

Customer Service & Communication:

• Provide professional customer service when interacting with clients and explaining repair needs.
• Recommend system upgrades or preventative maintenance solutions to extend equipment life.
• Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding job progress and technical issues.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment (50+ lbs.).
• Work in various environments, including cold storage facilities, restaurants, grocery stores, and outdoor locations.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, refrigerants, and electrical components.
• May require on-call availability, overtime, and travel to job sites in a company-provided vehicle.
