Job Summary

Micron’s Facilities Team is seeking an HVAC/R Operations Technician to support its new wafer fabrication facility in Boise, Idaho. This position is ideal for a motivated, versatile professional with a strong work ethic and a high degree of integrity. In this role, you will work collaboratively with skilled trades maintenance technicians to operate and maintain critical systems and equipment that support detailed maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and HVAC/R systems, including chiller plants, compressed air, heating and cooling water systems, cleanroom HVAC/R, process exhaust, and general building HVAC/R.
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance on complex facilities equipment, ensuring compliance with local HVAC/R codes, maintaining accurate records for maintenance, testing, and calibrations, and ordering and managing equipment as needed.
  • Monitor systems through regular rounds, readings, and alarm surveillance; diagnose faults and alarms using P&ID drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical data such as pressure and temperature.
  • Respond quickly and optimally to system failures and alarm conditions to restore equipment to service with minimal downtime.
  • Interpret refrigeration cycles, electrical schematics, and operational data to support resolving system issues, maintenance, and system optimization.
  • Uphold rigorous safety standards, including LOTO and NFPA 70E protocols, and contribute as a trained first responder on the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal customers while safely working with gases and chemicals used in production and maintenance processes.
  • Meet physical job demands, including lifting and carrying 25–40 pounds, performing light assembly with hand tools, standing for extended shifts, walking up to several miles, and safely navigating confined spaces, uneven terrain, and tasks requiring bending, crouching, or kneeling.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma and/or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour shifts (3 on/4 off and 4 on/3 off) and switch from days to nights every 4 months, with the ability to move to different shifts to support facilities as required by business needs.
  • 1 year of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, building upkeep, or manufacturing.
  • The ability to always wear fab‑specific clean‑room garments (100%) to prevent human contamination of products, and occasionally wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), such as a chemical apron and face shield (approximately 1% of the time).
