Qualifications

What You’ll Do

Provide Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic (HVAC/R) support services for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Training Center (TRACEN) Birmingham Southern located at 900 Arkadelphia Road, Birmingham, AL, 35254.

What You’ll Have

• Comprehensive knowledge of shore-side ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment/systems and technical blueprints.
• Valid EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
• General knowledge of troubleshooting, repair, and operation of automated building control systems.
• Documented commercial/industrial HVAC&R experience on centrifugal chillers, air-cooled chillers, cooling towers, large AHUs, and automated control systems.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting proficiency in electrical circuits, refrigerant cycle analysis, and hydronic balancing.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the refrigeration cycle of commercial and industrial systems.
• Proven ability to locate and inspect for leaks, apply prescribed test procedures, and diagnose equipment failures.
• Sound knowledge of air conditioning and refrigerant tables.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.
