Job summary

Pierce County is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic 2 – HVAC to support county buildings and ensure safe, reliable operations for thousands of employees and the public. You will perform HVAC/R installations, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs as part of a collaborative maintenance and security team.

As the journey-level tradesperson, you will model standards, mentor other technicians, and tackle projects such as equipment replacements and space remodels.

Qualifications

• Five years of work experience in HVAC/R or related trade areas.
• HVAC/R, HVAC/R Controls: licensure requirements specified by state.
• Ability to lead or manage projects including equipment replacements or space remodels.

Responsibilities

• Execute journey-level HVAC/R work including installations, preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC/R equipment, duct work, and dampers.
• Monitor systems and adjust for efficient performance.
• Handle refrigerants in compliance with regulations and document accordingly.
• Perform journey-level electrical work and low-voltage troubleshooting related to HVAC/R.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls to ensure systems meet standards.
