Job summary

Walmart is seeking an experienced HVAC/R technician in Sanford, FL to oversee installation, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance of supermarket refrigeration systems. The role focuses on safety, code compliance, and efficient operation across rack and walk-in units.

Candidates must have HVAC/R experience with EPA refrigerant handling certification, plus a valid driver's license. AAS in HVAC/R or equivalent experience is preferred; on-call availability is required.

Qualifications

3 years' experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
6 years' experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration with AAS.
EPA Type I/II or Universal refrigerant handling certification.
HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required.
1 year in plumbing/electrical or 2 years Walmart store experience.
Valid state driver's license and clean motor vehicle report.
No DUI/DWI/OUI in last 5 years; no serious traffic violations in last 3 years.

Responsibilities

Oversees installation and commissioning of HVAC/R systems and related ductwork.
Leads diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues.
Implements and monitors preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
Manages rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units.
Ensures adherence to OSHA standards and EPA refrigerant handling protocols.
Maintains compliance with HVAC/R codes, indoor air quality, and cold chain requirements.
Reclaims ozone-depleting refrigerants and maintains environmental guidelines.
Leads field teams, mentors technicians, and coordinates service work.
