Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking an Engineering Technician III in Plymouth, MN, onsite. You will assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, CAD models, and drawings under engineering direction, and install instrumentation on test units following standard lab methods.

You will operate complex lab equipment, identify nonconformities, and contribute to product improvements while maintaining EH&S safety standards and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in HVAC&R or related experience.
• Experience in a mechanical test lab or field service (preferred).
• Fork truck training/license, Man lift training/license, Universal card, or R410a card (preferred).
• Mentorship experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, schematics and engineering direction.
• Install instrumentation on test units per standard lab methods.
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify and report nonconformities to engineering stakeholders.
• Provide solutions to difficult mechanical/electrical problems and product improvements.
• Maintain clean work area and adhere to EH&S policies.
• Obtain forklift and scissor lift certifications and refrigerant handling certifications.
• Perform test unit setup according to lab procedures.
• Create records of prototype build activities and document them.
• Improve laboratory activities and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze, troubleshoot and repair test units and facilities.
• Provide direction and training to other technicians (senior roles).
