The HVAC Project Engineer directly supports the HVAC Engineering Manager. Travels to stores to perform on-site inspections, provide problem resolution for HVAC equipment malfunctions, and coordinate equipment replacement for all domestic TJX chains. Contributes to all aspects of mechanical engineering of existing stores, including design, re-engineering, scope of work development, HVAC equipment & vendor sourcing, and project supervision. Makes decisions related to when and how HVAC equipment should be replaced and oversees projects from start to finish. Prioritizes projects based on estimated life, repair costs, parts availability, energy efficiency, lease terms, etc. Uses HVAC experience to assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair suggestions as required for all domestic TJX chains. Assists in resolving mechanical and technical building problems raised by Energy Management, Energy Services, and Facilities departments. Supports the HVAC Engineering Manager in developing specifications for HVAC equipment and EMS systems.

Who We Are Looking For: You.

• Key contributor to TJX’s national roof top unit (RTU) replacement program
• Travels to stores for on-site inspections, problem resolution, and equipment repair/replacement coordination
• Determines the condition of existing equipment to recommend replacements
• Contributes to developing annual and long-term forecast capital budgets for HVAC replacements
• Assigns projects to regional HVAC vendors and oversees projects from inception to completion
• Resolves HVAC/mechanical issues raised by Property Development partners
• Supports vendor selection and evaluates vendor performance
• Works directly with national HVAC equipment manufacturers
• Develops specifications for HVAC equipment RFP/RFI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of HVAC-related experience
• Advanced knowledge of HVAC equipment and Building Controls systems
• Strong project management skills for multi-site retail environments
• Knowledge of budget forecasting
• Understanding of building structural requirements related to HVAC replacement
• Expertise in ductwork design and air troubleshooting
• Ability to read mechanical and controls drawings
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Analytic and mechanical problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment (Agile approach)
• Experience with national account HVAC manufacturers
• Vendor management experience across multiple sites
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel
• Experience with Service Channel platform is a plus
• Willingness to travel up to 20% across the eastern US
