Job summary

Trane Technologies in Arden Hills, MN, is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator to identify and develop turnkey HVAC contracting projects, including scope, cost estimating, and proposal support with internal teams and customers.

The role involves creating detailed cost estimates, reviewing bid documents, and negotiating with vendors, while supporting Account Managers in bidding and pricing. Typical work is onsite Monday–Thursday, with Fridays offering flexible work location.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Experience in construction estimating, bidding, and procurement.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and HVAC operation.
• Ability to communicate with subcontractors to obtain proposal information.
• Willingness to travel and work outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop cost estimates for materials, subcontractors, equipment, labor, and other construction activities.
• Prepare detailed scope and pricing based on plans and bid documents.
• Review bid documents and identify constructability issues and risks.
• Negotiate cost savings with vendors/subcontractors.
• Support Account Managers in bidding and price determination.
• Provide technical support in pursuit of Trane business.
