Job summary

D.C. Goodman & Sons in Huntingdon, PA, is seeking a Service Manager to build and lead our HVAC/Plumbing service department. You will own the service end-to-end, starting with hands-on work and developing a preventive maintenance program from scratch.

You will consolidate service responsibilities, supervise technicians, and manage on-call rotations while ensuring safety, documentation, and client satisfaction as the department scales.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC and/or plumbing experience; lead/supervisory experience desired.
• Willingness to perform hands-on work during build-out; operate in a build-out environment.
• Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical systems, blueprints, and specs; OSHA/EPA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate service responsibilities into a single, dedicated department with unified processes.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for HVAC and plumbing systems from the ground up.
• Manage day-to-day operations: scheduling, dispatch, and prioritization of PM visits, service calls, and emergencies.
• Personally perform service, diagnostics, and repair work during the initial phase.
• Supervise and develop technicians as the department grows; hire and train staff.
• Serve as primary contact for facility managers and clients on service accounts; ensure timely responses and quality work.
• Review diagnostics/repair plans for complex equipment and provide technical guidance as issues arise.
• Build and maintain PM agreements and service contracts; expand service scope with existing clients.
• Partner with estimators to grow the service pipeline; own department profitability and cost tracking.
• Establish on-call rotation for after-hours coverage and ensure OSHA/local code compliance.
