Job summary

Engineered Comfort Solutions is seeking an experienced HVAC/MEP/Industrial Estimator to join our preconstruction team in Taylor, MI. You will prepare comprehensive bids for large commercial and industrial projects, developing material takeoffs, labor estimates, and supplier quotes to ensure profitable bids.

The role requires 3–5 years of HVAC/MEP estimating, strong knowledge of ductwork and controls, and proficiency with Procore and Excel.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of HVAC/MEP or mechanical estimating experience required.
• Strong understanding of HVAC/MEP systems, ductwork, hydronics and controls.
• Proficiency with estimating software (Procore, MS Excel).
• Familiarity with local mechanical codes and ASHRAE/SMACNA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze HVAC/MEP construction documents to prepare comprehensive bids.
• Develop accurate material takeoffs and labor estimates for systems.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes for proposals.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and clients to clarify scope.
• Assist in value engineering and bid development processes.
• Maintain historical cost data and bid benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze HVAC/MEP construction documents including plans, specifications, and addenda to prepare comprehensive bids.
• Develop accurate material takeoffs and labor estimates for sheet metal, piping, controls, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes for inclusion in proposals.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in value engineering and alternate solutions during the bid phase.
• Maintain historical cost data and benchmark pricing for future estimates (contract admin)
• Prepare bid packages and participate in bid reviews and project handoffs.
• Track bid results and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities (Contract Admin).
• Utilize estimating software such as Procore or similar tools to streamline bid accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of HVAC/MEP or mechanical estimating experience required.
• Strong understanding of HVAC/MEP systems, ductwork, hydronics, air handling, and controls.
• Proficiency with construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, MS Excel).
• Familiarity with local mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and SMACNA guidelines.
• Ability to interpret complex blueprints and project specifications.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience accepted.

Schedule

• Full-Time: Monday–Friday
• Typical hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Occasional evening or weekend work depending on bid deadlines
