Job summary

UMass Chan Medical School seeks a Mechanical Maintenance Technician I to install, repair, and maintain mechanical systems across campus, including HVAC components, pumps, coils, and ductwork. The role reports to the Associate Director or designee and requires adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, executing repairs, reading drawings and blueprints, and coordinating with facilities teams.

Qualifications

• Trade school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Ability to work from shop drawings and manufacturers' instructions.
• Ability to travel to off-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC and mechanical systems, including coils, belts, and motors.
• Install mechanical systems and components per directions.
• Conduct inspections to detect hazards and determine needs for adjustments or replacements; may include welding and soldering.
• Operate, troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems across campus and off-site locations.
• Maintain materials at job sites to complete work efficiently.
• Complete records and maintain spare parts inventory.
