Job summary

University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform semi-skilled building and equipment maintenance and construction tasks. The role supports major repairs, new construction projects, and the upkeep of laboratory and ancillary equipment.

The technician will assist plumbers, electricians, carpenters and other mechanical journeymen, reading blueprints and instructions to install, repair and maintain facilities equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 0–1 years of experience in semi-skilled maintenance and construction tasks.
• Ability to read instructions, blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist plumbers, electricians, carpenters and other journeymen in major repairs.
• Lubricate, clean and paint mechanical equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspect equipment.
• Repair walls, ceilings and floors as needed.
• Move and set up furniture and equipment.
• Maintain and repair maintenance tools.
• Maintain records and spare parts inventory.
