Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Mechanical Trades Technician to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced HVAC/R systems in a dynamic facility environment.

The role requires hands-on experience with boilers, chillers, piping, controls, and water treatment, plus the ability to follow safety practices and support building management systems. A state-approved mechanical apprenticeship and 5 years of HVAC experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• HVAC tradesperson with 5 years of experience.
• Lay out, install, modify, overhaul, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facilities mechanical equipment.
• Experience with boilers, piping, and water treatment.
• Knowledge of safety practices and codes.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance of pumps, air handlers, boilers, and refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC mechanical system issues to minimize downtime.
• Monitor and optimize HVAC systems for energy efficiency.
