Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking HVAC apprenticeship candidates in Hoover, AL to train on mechanical equipment and controls at client sites.

You will participate in the Service Technical Academy, gaining skills and advancement opportunities while serving customers with optimal building performance. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and professional conduct, with mandatory union participation and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA).
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts.
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy to build skill sets and opportunities for advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues and customer needs.
• Keep Johnson Controls, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training in the first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Preferred

• 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques

*This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Pay Range: $21.21-$28.28 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional
